Project Objective

To capture high-accuracy topographical data for planning, designing, and aligning the rail corridor across one of India’s most challenging terrains.

Scope of Work

  • Drone-based aerial image acquisition

  • Satellite imagery processing

  • DGPS survey & Ground Control Point (GCP) establishment

  • Generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and Orthophotos

  • Preparation of topographical maps, contour models, and alignment data

  • Captured ~1,500 hectares of difficult terrain with 15,000+ high-resolution images and processed 2.3 billion data points

  • Delivered all outputs in engineering-ready formats for CAD and BIM integration

  • And we did it all in just 1.5 months — compared to ~9 months by traditional methods

Area Overview

  • Length: 123 km

  • Route: Rishikesh to Karnaprayag

  • Terrain: Mountainous, forested, steep slopes, and river crossings

  • Challenges: Accessibility, altitude, and ecological sensitivity

⚙️ Methodology

Using advanced UAV photogrammetry, DGPS-based control networks, and satellite data, we captured and processed high-resolution terrain models suitable for engineering-grade alignment and design.

Deliverables

  • Orthophotos & contour maps

  • DTM/DSM in design-ready formats (CAD/GIS)

  • DGPS survey reports & GCP data

  • Alignment corridor analysis

  • Slope, elevation, and terrain classification

Project Benefits

  • Enabled accurate and efficient engineering design

  • Reduced planning and alignment errors

  • Supported environmental and structural assessments

  • Saved significant time and resources in planning

Impact

Our survey now plays a foundational role in shaping this vital rail link, enabling regional mobility, pilgrimage and tourism access, and strategic connectivity across the Himalayas of Uttarakhand.

Conclusion

This survey for the Rishikesh–Karn Prayag Rail Link stands as a testament to our capabilities in delivering complex infrastructure surveys in some of India’s most challenging terrains. The success of this phase lays the groundwork for one of the most important infrastructure projects in Northern India.

By blending innovation, precision, and dedication, we are proud to contribute to nation-building projects that connect people, improve lives, and open new opportunities for development.
